Odisha crashed out of the Junior Women National Football Championship, losing to West Bengal 0-1 in the quarterfinals in Goa today. Earlier, Odisha won both of their Group-G league matches to storm into the quarterfinals.
After trouncing Andhra Pradesh 8-2 in their opening match, Odisha prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh 4-0. Jabamani Tudu led the 20-member Odisha team with Gitanjali Khuntia and Sultana Parween as head coach and manager respectively.
As many as 24 states, including reigning champions Manipur participated in this championship. Teams were divided into eight groups and after completion of group league, the eight group winners qualifed for quarterfinals.

August 21: Odisha (Soni Behera 19’,50’; Deepa Nayak 29’,90+3’; Jasoda Munda 42’,45; Bannya Kabiraj 61’, Munica Minz 83’) beat Andhra Pradesh (B Anitha 12’, Y Anitha 90+1’) 8-2.
August 23: Odisha (Deepa Nayak 23’, Susmita Tanty 69’, Manisha Naik 81’, 89’) beat Arunachal Pradesh 4-0.
August 27 (QF): Odisha lost to West Bengal 0-1.
